My Flap 3D Adventure: A Study Project

Full Description:

Hey there! Thanks for checking out Flap 3D. This little game is the result of my deep dive into learning Unity.

It's my 3D reinterpretation of the classic and challenging "flappy" game, which I created from scratch as a way to practice and deepen my knowledge of game development and C# programming.

About the Project

Think of this less as a finished game and more as my "developer's diary." Every mechanic, every visual effect, and every line of code was a chance to try something new. Along the way, I had the help of a Google AI to assist me with debugging code and exploring new techniques, which made the journey even more interesting.

What I Learned and Implemented:

  • A Personal Art Style: I had fun creating the 3D models with a voxel aesthetic. The 2D UI and background elements were based on the visuals from the original game, which I edited and adapted to fit this project.
  • 3D Physics My Way: I built the player's physics from the ground up to get that "heavy" feeling in the jump and fall, which is so characteristic of the game that inspired us.
  • An Infinite World: The obstacle course is procedurally generated, which means the challenge is different every time you play.
  • Making It All Work Together: I implemented a complete system to manage the score, menus, and the "game over" screen.

How to Play:

click the mouse or press the spacebar to make the character jump and dodge the obstacles. Try to beat your high score!

Future Plans

This project is still alive in my head! As I learn more, I'll very likely come back here to add new features, visual improvements, or to rewrite the code in a smarter way.

Thank you so much for trying out my game and for being part of this adventure with me. Feel free to leave a comment with your feedback!
